Georgia baseball is having the kind of day programs dream about in the transfer portal.
The Bulldogs reeled in their third and fourth commitments of Monday alone, adding former Wichita State pitcher Matthew Cuccias and former Louisiana Tech infielder Casey McCoy. That came after Wes Johnson and his staff had already landed Oregon slugger Naulivou Lauaki Jr. and Indiana first baseman Jake Hanley earlier in the afternoon — four additions in a single day.
Cuccias is a right-hander from Simi Valley, California, who began his career at Glendale Community College before transferring to Wichita State ahead of this past season. With the Shockers, he posted a 3.53 ERA with 76 strikeouts against 33 walks across 74 innings and 15 starts.
McCoy doesn’t bring the same power profile as Lauaki and Hanley, but he flashed real promise as a Louisiana Tech freshman, hitting .281 with 50 hits, 28 RBIs and five home runs over 51 starts. He played primarily shortstop and earned a spot on the Conference USA All-Freshman Team for his efforts.
The haul had an immediate payoff in the rankings: Georgia’s Monday spree pushed the Bulldogs to the top of 64Analytics’ team transfer portal board. For a program coming off an SEC title, this is exactly how you reload — and it sets Georgia up to be a tough out in the SEC once again next season.
