One of the biggest question marks hanging over the 2026 Bulldogs is the wide receiver room — and it’s a concern that keeps coming up. ESPN’s David Hale is the latest to point at it.
“Let’s be honest: Georgia’s receiving talent hasn’t been elite since Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey departed after the 2023 season,” Hale wrote. He credited Zachariah Branch for becoming a real weapon last year but noted Branch did most of his work after the catch, which put a ceiling on the downfield passing game. Hale added that even coming off a middling 2025, there may be more questions this time around with Colbie Young, Dillon Bell, Noah Thomas and tight end Oscar Delp all gone.
The numbers back up the worry. London Humphreys is the only returning wideout who caught more than 15 passes a season ago.
And unlike in years past, Georgia didn’t lean hard on the portal to patch things up. The lone transfer addition was Georgia Tech’s Isiah Canion, who hauled in 33 passes for 480 yards and four touchdowns last season. He’s expected to step into the big outside role that Colbie Young held.
Where Georgia has invested is on the recruiting trail. The Bulldogs have signed eight high school receivers across the last two cycles, three of them top-100 overall prospects in the 247Sports Composite — headlined by five-star Talyn Taylor. CJ Wiley is entering his second year in the program, and Craig Dandridge turned heads in the spring game. Landon Roldan, Thomas Blackshear, Tyler J. Williams, Dallas Dickerson and Ryan Mosley weren’t ranked as highly, but all have a shot to contribute and help flip the narrative around the position.
Among the more established names, Humphreys will lead the way. He’s the most experienced receiver on the roster, now in his third year in Athens after transferring in from Vanderbilt ahead of the 2024 season. Sacovie White-Helton is another breakout candidate after biding his time his first two seasons — his game draws comparisons to Branch’s, and he’s expected to handle punt-return duties as well.
There’s also Kaiden Prothro to factor in. His long-term home is at tight end, but Georgia signaled in the spring game that Prothro is going to be a key piece of the passing attack.
Steadying all of it is Gunner Stockton, who returns at quarterback behind one of the best offensive lines in the country. Still, until someone — or, more likely, several someones — emerges out of this receiver group, the questions about the unit aren’t going away.
